Pago, American Samoa.
This one-day workshop presents teachers with a dynamic model for integrating Picturing Writing into their science or social studies curriculum using poetry as the genre. Working with theme of animals in their habitat, teachers will create their own research-based crayon resist poetry tri-fold which can be used as a model for designing a number of different short integrated curriculum units of study. Use of mentor texts will be modeled throughout the process. Simple crayon resist art and supplemental texturing techniques will be taught. Options for designing your own integrated curriculum unit will be discussed.
